New Leaders Council

New Leaders Council (NLC) is a 501(c)(3) that works to recruit, train and promote the progressive political entrepreneurs of tomorrow — trendsetters, elected officials and civically-engaged leaders in business and industry who will shape the future landscape. The New York City branch, besides being one of the oldest and largest, has had the honor to run the Institute since 2008.

We are committed to seeking out new leaders from outside traditional power structures and focusing on issues of importance to our city, including economic empowerment, racial justice,  education, drug policy and gender equality. Our 120+ fellows comprise one of the NLC’s most diverse bodies, hailing from wildly different backgrounds and careers with the goal of bettering and strengthening New York City.
